[Kimiko Usui Profile]
Born in Fukuoka City. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Piano Department after attending the Tokyo University of the Arts Music High School. Recipient of the Nishinippon Shimbun Award at the 37th Nishinippon New Performers Recital. She has appeared in numerous concerts including the Japan-Russia Music Exchange Concert, performances with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra (Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3), and the 3rd International Piano Festival in New York. Recently, she has also performed at the Japan-China-Korea International Exchange Concert and Afternoon Concert (Boston). Active member of PTNA and the Japan Performers Association. Serves as juror for the Japan Classical Competition, All Japan Piano Competition, PTNA Piano Competition, and Pia-con & PIARA Piano Competition. Many of her students have advanced to prestigious music universities including Tokyo University of the Arts Piano Department and Toho Gakuen Piano Department. Former associate professor at Kwassui Women's University School of Music. Currently, she actively performs and directs the "Maimatsubara Piano Salon," mentoring aspiring musicians.
